Giuseppe Arcimboldo Writing

This is is some information about Giuseppe Arcimboldo. It was really fun doing this because it taught me a lot about this guy. Giuseppe Arcimboldo is a really fun guy to study. Iv'e also always wanted to be doing a biography, so here I am doing one. I spent a long time on this project so hope you enjoy!

Giuseppe Arcimboldo Artwork

Vegetable picture art:

VS Pastel picture art:

Since our class has been studying Giuseppe Arcimboldo, since he was a painter, since he painted vegetables to make pictures, we tried to make a picture like his out of vegetables. First we actually, made a sculpture out of real vegetables. It was really fun because we got to use pastel to draw it. Here's a picture of mine, it's supposed to be a picture of a feast. Which picture do you think is better, my real picture made out of vegetables or my pastel picture??? Hope you enjoy!!

Term 2 quotes of the week

Here are my Term 2 quotes of the week. Hope you enjoy them!

Waihirere

On Tuesday 10th of May Red house and Yellow house went in a group to Waihirere to learn about some wild kai/food you can collect in the wild. We found some lemon balm and kawakawa on the way, we collected that so that we can make kawakawa tea on our Hobo Stoves. I really liked the kawakawa tea.

My favourite part was boiling the water on our Hobo Stoves to make kawakawa tea. By the way our guides name was 'Sam the trackman'. He was showing us all the stuff that you can eat in the bush, he also told us that if you eat the light green coloured fern, it's going to stuff up your day, (the stuff up your day part to me is meaning that it is like food poisoning and you will die). My favourite food there was the Pekopeko.

Kai Moana (Kaiti Beach)

Here we are on Tuesday 11th of May at 10:00am. Our whole school reported to Kaiti Beach to learn some more for Immersion week /(food topic). When we got there we went to the rock pools, to see if we could find any crabs and octopi. We thought that we had a chance of finding an octopus because the last group found one. We actually did find an octopus, Koka Maddie caught it on camera. When we got there we found a Hermit Crab. Brooklyn said she found the octopus first (but I still don't believe her).

Envirocentre

Yesterday our house groups went to the envirocentre. We went because the topic our school was working on for this year was food and the envirocentre has a whole garden full of food. My favourite food there was the chilli. Even though I didn't eat the chilli, I still LOVE chilli's. Kirsty was talking about how to get seeds out of each different plant. With Katy we planted some plants, and with Steph we sorted out some seeds into a bucket. It was REALLY fun, we even got to take the plants we planted back to school!

Yum Yum Hobo Stoves/(Best pancakes in the whole universe)

On Wednesday the whole school went to the hall and were told to sit in our house colours. Then Mrs Hall told us that we were making homemade Hobo Stoves, I was getting really excited because she also that that we were going to be making pancakes on the Hobo Stoves as well. When we started making them I was a bit nervous because the first step looked a bit tricky because we had to cut out strips of cardboard and roll them up to put them into a small little tin cup. Then we put the wax and the wick in the small little tin. Then once the wax had dried up we put the tin into a karicare sized big tin. Then Mrs Allan (incharge of Yellow house) went into the staff room to go make the pancake mixture. Then we put a roll of tinfoil over the top of the big tin and lit the candle. Then we put the pancake mixture on the roll of tinfoil on the top of the big tin. I think I was the best pancake flipper and I also think that Kane was the best at holding down the tinfoil. The pancake were so good that they even tasted better then my Mums, even though my Mum hardly makes pancakes they yummy.

Yum Yum Cedenco...

Today all of the seniors went to the company Cedenco, my Mums friend is the Manager of Cedenco (which is Carla, she's the person who showed around some of the factory). We were there to learn about Kai/Foods because our focus for this year at school is on food. But what really stood out was the blower machine, the whole of point of the blower machine was because it blows all the hair off you so that no hair gets in the food, the Japanese are REALLY fussy eater's (just like myself). I wonder if some of the foods come from different places in New Zealand.
